Ionic air purifier dangers have long been known as the silent killer that has resulted in many respiratory issues among people who use it. Also known as a negative ion generator, the ionic air purifier produces these ions that tend to stick to airborne particles.
As many of these particles are attacted and they then stick together forming larger clumps, sooner or later they become too heavy to keep floating in the air and fall off. With more and more of these airborne particles fall off, the air becomes cleaner and purer.
Most of these air ionizer are marketed as air cleaners or even with those with mood enhancing capability, it does work as intended by cleaning the air that you breathe. Although it is great in eliminating allergies which might be caused by airborne particles such as smoke, dust, pollen, mold as well as other harmful substances, the negatively charged ions can also cause dangers.
Ionic air purifier that causes particles to stick could also at the same way cause these particles to stick onto the wall of our lungs when we inhale them. As they tend to stick, they will stick onto our lungs instead of being exhaled back into the air thus making our lungs the air purifier instead.
This may cause many respiratory issues or lung problems over the long run. While this issue has not been well studied yet, the potential risks is still there. Nonetheless, by understanding the potential dangers of ionic air purifier, we should now be able to make a better informed choice when we purchasing a better air cleaner for the health of our family as well as for ourselves. Interesting points about ionic purifiers that I didn’t know about… I’m against them personally since they generate ozone as a byproduct, and ozone is known pollutant at ground level.
